On Madonna, hmm
Is someone giving this woman a hard time for acting like a role model and delivering $3 Million to Africa? And for taking a child from an orphanage that would have certainly lived a horrible life without her blessing? Are you kidding me? If we beat up on all of our philanthropic role models maybe no impoverished black children from Africa will ever be adopted.
I am not a big fan of Madonna by a long shot. I despise her style of music. I don’t think grown women should run around in their underwear in public, or disgrace the cross, or anyone else’s religious symbolism.
Also conceptually the appearance of the rich lady coming in to save the poor black child has some disquieting overtones. I have plenty of issues with Madonna’s erratic image and customarily offensive actions.
But, let us judge her specific act in this case and not mix it with all other acts in her life. This act is an act of charity. Whatever is going on in the background, the only true action she is taking is an overt act of love, faith, and charity. Maybe she won’t be the best Mom or role model, but neither is the poor lady running the destitute orphanage.
Madonna went to one of the world’s poorest countries, found one among the most destitute children, received the blessing of that child’s “family”, and left $3 million in her wake. I would suggest that everyone else in the world take similar actions and we all live in peace and love as Madonna is promoting through her selfless act in Malawi. Give her a break and give me a break. Angelina, Brad, and any one else who expresses themselves as champions of the poor, God Bless You. Everyone else, stop kidding me.
